Bitnob funds GDG UNILORIN’s CareerFest 3.0 as the first recipient of its University Tech Event Grant, supporting student-led innovation in Africa.
When we launched the Bitnob University Tech Event Grant, the goal was simple: support the incredible energy and innovation happening across Africa’s campuses. Today, we’re excited to share that the first event to receive this grant is none other than CareerFest x Tech Summit 3.0 hosted by Google Developer Groups (GDG) UNILORIN.
This is more than just funding an event. it’s about backing a community that’s building the future, right from their classrooms.
Why CareerFest x Tech Summit 3.0?
With over 4,000 active members, GDG UNILORIN is one of the most vibrant student-led developer groups in Africa. Their reach spans 16 different faculties proving just how powerful and inclusive the tech movement is on campus.
CareerFest isn’t new to the spotlight either. It has welcomed 1,200+ attendees and 20+ tech professionals in previous editions. This year’s event is shaping up to be even bigger, blending career development with real tech conversations and community learning.
Why Is Bitnob Funding This?
At Bitnob, we’ve always believed in building for the long term. That starts with investing in young Africans who aren’t just dreaming about the future, they’re actively building it.
Our team knows what it’s like to sit in those lecture halls, attend those student tech meetups, and wonder if big ideas can grow from here.
So this grant isn’t just about putting our logo on a flyer. It’s about showing up to mentor, to share real-world knowledge, and to remind students that the distance between an idea and a product is shorter than they think.
What Bitnob Is Bringing
As part of this year’s CareerFest, we’re showing up with:
- Real conversations with the Bitnob team from product to engineering
- Insights into what it takes to build and scale fintech products in Africa
- Talks on APIs, blockchain, and digital finance
- Opportunities for students to connect directly with the fintech space
This Is Just the Beginning!
CareerFest 3.0 is the first, but definitely not the last. The Bitnob University Tech Event Grant was created to be a long-term commitment. We’re showing up on more campuses, in more communities, and at more events where young Africans are pushing boundaries and building what’s next.
We’re not just here to fund events. We’re here to back people. And we can’t wait to meet more of you.
